Those don't look like "Plains" to me.

So, I end up loading into a fight after reading the Auto Resolve where it says that the battle location takes place in the "Plains" as well as looking visually at where im located on the map with not a single tree in sight around me, and then i get a marsh surrounded by trees. Begs another question, if I would have auto resolved, would it have auto'd on that map I loaded into or would it have auto'd with a Plains modifier to cavalry/horse archer troops? submitted by /u/tjburke93123 [link] [comments]

My companions defect when I try to rescue them

So I lost a battle to the Vaegirs pretty bad (hadn't gotten my Sarranid army up to proper "full cavalry army" status yet) and all of my male companions--Bunduk, Jeremus, Firentis, Bashestur, and Alayen--got captured and thrown in Radoghir Castle. I figured I'd run in, punch the guard, and break them out. Everything went swimmingly until I got them out of the building. When I leave and put on my armor and weapons, all of them also leave the building (even if I tell them to stay back until I'm ready to leave with them) and are seemingly not on my side and not on the enemy side at the same time. If I get close to them they attack me but the guards pincushion them. I've staged 3 jailbreaks and they've all gotten killed every time. What's going on? How do I fix this? I reeeeeally don't want to have to recapture the castle or ransom them all off. If it's any help, I'm playing as a female character, in case that sets off some kind of weird bug....

[PoP] Need some advice for my Kingdom

I came back to my old save and I'm kind of unsure what to do next. I'm in a good situation right now (I think) so my next move will be very important. I started out as a mercanary and then vassal for Sarleon. Eventually I rebelled and it went really good, I crushed the whole kingdom without much trouble and recruited all my old friends to my side. At the moment I have 10 lords, all of them honorable or martial and about a 1000 soldiers in total. We own Laria, Sarleon, Cez, Windholm and some castles. My own party is 264 in size and really strong, I could take on a much much larger regular army by myself and probably siege any city with up to 600 garrison. It consists of: 44 CKO Sargeants (essentialy Empire Armored Crossbowmen on steroids, who can also double as good infantry), 24 CKO Knights, 43 Empire Armored Crossbowmen, 15 Fierdsvain Huscarls, 11 companions, 43 Mercenary Swordsmen and the rest consists mostly of high level cavalry and some Fierdsvain and Ravenstern infantr...

Food & Morale -- The math doesn't work the way you think...

The " Party morale report " is a strange bit of math. Take that screenshot for example: +50 -60 +90 +73 -32 = 67 I call it strange because the answer should be = 115 not 67. Looking at the rest of the album it is easy to see it is always {99-32=67} and Recent events makes up the difference. That raises some questions. Namely, what is the correct amount of food to carry? I would like to know how the value for "Recent events" changes. It is the important number on that screen. Note that if "Recent events" moves towards zero over time (pretty sure it does) that means you always want it displaying a negative value. There are food options I see. I do not know which is best over time; A) Food variety = Recent events (carry +32 total) B) Food variety < Recent events (carry 1 grain) C) Food variety > Recent events (carry every food type you can find) 1)Is it affected by diminishing returns (like renown)? 2)Or are all changes to it stat...

How on earth do you capture Tevarin Castle?

So, I've nearly taken over all of Swadia, the only places in my way are Praven and Tevarin Castle. However, despite having over 100 men myself and being joined by pretty much every Vaegir lord and their men, I can't for the life of me take Tevarin. The horrible siege ladder creates a chokepoint for their seemingly infinite archers and they wipe out nearly all of my troops before I can even ascend the ladder! Just had the most intense and epic battle ever XD

My mercenary army got cornered by the Northern King. Greatly outnumbered we fought our enemies of the North, as i saw my fellow soldiers fall to their blades one by one. We survived the king's first wave of soldiers ... Our cavalry was no more we only had around 30 infantry left and a handful of archers. Retreat was not a option as we had our reputation as the invincible mercenary band to uphold. So i rallied my infantry and placed the archers in a half moon formation behind our soldiers. Everything was in place as we awaited the second wave of the northern kings attack, then they showed up charging at us with a large number of infantry they where only a few moments away, i shouted to my soldiers "SHIELD WALL!" and we formed up, bring it King of the North! i shouted, their infantry clashed against our shields but it wasn't enough to break our formation, we retaliated, hacking and slashing while keeping our invincible formation as they fell to our swords one by one, ...

Changing max battle size in Silverstag?

Sorry if there's an obvious answer to this question, but I can't find a way to increase the battle size past 150 in the Silverstag mod. From what I've been able to google, I need to change "battle_size" in rgl_log.txt to a higher number. When changing it from "1.000000" to "3.000000" (or any other number) it has no effect in game, and when I re-open rgl_log.txt it shows "battle_size" as being set back to the default value. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the fact that Silverstag uses Warband Script Enhancer, but I don't know enough about WSE or modding in general to figure out how to fix it. What keybindings do you change?

I have a couple that I've had for so long I've almost forgotten what the original key bindings are. -Q instead of X for "change weapon type". Easier for couching a lance or swinging a throwing axe. -Alt instead of / for swinging the camera around in the heat of battle. -1, 2, 3 ,4.... etc switch with F1, F2, F3, F4... etc so you give out commands with numbers and choose troops types with the function buttons. This is a big one for me because it's much easier to hit 1 then 3 for a charge or hold down 1 to slap that "move here guys" banner down. [Perisno] How do you train your troops?

Hi guys! I've recently started playing Perisno .8 and I'm a bit overwhelmed by just how hard everything is. I played earlier versions of Perisno and I don't feel like the game was THIS challenging. I personally love a challenging game though; it's boring when everything is just handed to you on a butter covered platter. My question though is how do you guys level your troops? Soon after starting my playthrough I found the mercenary camp (great feature by the way) and hired some random low level troops and some of the hired troops that let you customize their gear. I really like the custom troops and the gear that I can give them (kinda pisses me off how the best gear for them is elven shit though. I hate elves) but my problem is I can't level them up enough to where I can give them higher tier gear. Every enemy band I see on the map is like "50 dismounted knights, 300 deathbringers, 60 demon overlords, and 40 wolf knights who will fuck your shit up" so my...

Help me revolt!

I'm wondering if someone could give me some advice here I've got multiple cities and castles now mostly in the veigar/nord lands and they're stocked with trained troops, 100k in the bank and around 5k profit every week from rent/enterprise, rtr is around 50 and I think it's time I was king of these lands, the problem I have however is that my good for nothing king of the viegars grants me everything I ask for! [Viking Conquest]Battle strategies

Hi, I need some tips regarding battle strategies. I have some questions: What is strategy view(Enter key by default) used for? Is there a way to arrange my units in a specific formation and to memorize it so every battle my troops will use that specific formation? If so, is there a way to arrange them in a neutral ground or do I need to be in a battle to do so? After forming shieldwalls, will my troops just hold ground? If I press them to charge, will they break shield wall or move forward in shield wall formation? What about ordering them to advance 10 steps or to manually make them go to a specific spot, will this break formation? If they break formation, will they get in shield wall once they reach that spot or I have to tell them again? What is the minimum soldiers required to use shield wall? How to transition from strong vassal to a King?

I have reyadin,curuw and khudan with 1k in each garrison (100 sharpshooters, 50 huacarl and the rest recruits). I have 150 swadiah knights in case any body want a little field battle. 100k in my treasury with every city producing something in an enterprise. I need to get my r2r higher and my honor is -7. I plan to start taking more castles and when my liege doesn't give me the castle I will revolt. But before that I assume I need to get more honor, r2r and friends among other lords. So I just recently found out about M&B and really wanted to buy Warband but money is tight right now... Quick question: Why have my kings stopped assigning fiefs to their lords?

I'm trying to start up a kingdom of my own and learned that you can talk with a lord in private and persuade him to join your cause. So I did just that and he said, "Neither of us have a fortress blablabla kingdom ruled from woods". Pretty much it didn't work because neither of us had property. So I went and looked in the Locations section of the glossary and, lo and behold, every single location is owned by a King, Sultan, or Khan. Lords used to have castles, I know this for certain, and some even had towns (or multiple towns). But now it's all kings. Anyone know why this is? Just a little tip to prevent a few crashes

When I first started playing Warband, I used to Alt+Tab out of the game when I wanted to do something else, and sometimes it made the game crash. So I looked around the net and found that Alt+Enter is best to use, since it puts your game in windowed mode (if you have it in fullscreen) and the game never crashes that way. Harlaus is such a terrible lord to serve. What is a better alternative?

I'm in day 180 in my freelancer gameplay, and i just want to play as a swadian knight. The other 20 days were spent trying to get back to Harlaus after being imprisoned. ** MAKING MONEY** Hunting. You can do this as soon as you have a real horse (or even a donkey). The best way is with three sets of javelins and a dawn ray (or a bow/sling and ride to the next hilltop, shoot, and ride). Goats, boar, wolves, and donkeys are slow. Deer are fast. You have to trick deer; you can't run them down unless you have a good riding skill and a really fast horse. If you kill a big herd, don't sell all the items in one city. Trade. One of the best routes is silver, minerals, and stone from Wales back to England. Buy from VILLAGES, not towns. Generally, a good trade route will not take you all the way from London to Scotland. It's not worth your time. The profits look good, but ask yourself about profit/(time x danger). Tournaments, like always. I will discuss tournaments shortly. Prisoners. Naming after obtaining lord/vassal status?

I know that once you become a vassal of some king you are just called "vassal" and not "count" or however the other ones are called... it's easly fixed by naming your character "Count <name>". Now on to being a king... I'm quite new to this so i tried once but then insta quit since i lost quite quick after doing it, but i havent noticed any change on how people refer to me. Do they suddendly start calling you "King <name>"? Or should I make the characters name like that? [ACOK] SaveGame Editor Help Request

The MnB SaveGame Editor crashes any time I try to load saves from ACoK 3.0 and simply doesn't load saves from any other mods such as DiploVexed. When I start up the editor, select "Import new save..." For "Path to Module Directory" I put "E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband\Modules\ACOK 3.0" For "Path to SaveGame File" I put "C:\Users\X\Documents\Mount&Blade Warband Savegames\ACOK 3.0" At that point the editor crashes. I'm sure that whatever the issue is, it's probably something gone wrong on my end. Maybe I'm inputting the wrong paths? What's the most DIRE situation you've ever been in?

Took 180 of my men, 40 of them recruits out to start crusading deep into enemy territory. MFW neutral faction who's land I am travelling through declares war, so I have to fight literally 13 parties of 200+ Each fight we lost some, I went in with 180, left with 40 of my Queens guard. It was fucking brutal. Thankfully my army was pretty elite at the time and we cut through them like butter. unfortunately there was so many, they were one of the strongest factions, but after that they were quickly overtaken by the people who they were at war with, it was pretty cool at the time. M&B looks hazy in-game for me vs others.

So I can't figure out why or how, but my game looks slightly hazy compared to others playing this game. I've noticed this since watching a few youtube videos and noticed the difference. It's not due to a single mod. I've tried adjusting every setting in game and nothing really changes it. Gamma is set to default at 2.0, and lowering just darkens the haze. Anyone would happen to know whats going on? Video card is a GTX 1070 running on DX 9. DX 7 doesnt change it either. How to progress in ACOK?

I started my own kingdom a few days ago, and have made very little progression. I am starting to get bored. I am currently at war with the riverlands, and when I capture a castle, I can only hold it for about 3 hours in-game-time. By the time I am finished besieging, they have already organized 2000 men (not exaggerating). How the hell am I supposed to defend against that. It's actually impossible unless I do some exploit, which at that point I might as well turn on cheats. How is this fun? How do you guys keep playing this mod without getting bored? How do Blunt Weapons and Prisoners Work?

So it seems as though blunt weapons have a much higher chance of knocking an enemy unconscious than other weapons. I've never actually ran around with a mace myself, but I'm wondering how consistent this is? For example, say you run in to 20 high tier deserters and you want to capture them all to sell or convert to your own army. Could you expect to capture most or of them by just using a mace? Do blunt weapons ever actually kill? Is there even an actual difference between blunt and sharp weapons in terms of knocking unconscious? Does Surgery affect this at all for the enemy? The main reason I ask is actually because of that "track down the spy" mission your king can sometimes give you. You need to take two specific NPC's alive, so I typically just charge them with my horse for 8 damage a pop until they fall unconscious, but if maces do this reliably it would make this a lot less tedious. PoP garrison question

[Prophesy of Pendor] Are feasts bugged?

I'm organizing a feast of quality which was considered "sufficient". I talk to the Lord at the feast and they say they raise a cup to me but I don't get increased relations. Is it because the quality was only sufficient? I don't even get +1 Is it because my relation with them is too high? I didn't find anything about this in the wikis but so is my suspicion. Perisno crash

For some reason my save crashes everytime I enter the world map for more than 5 seconds. However, my game runs with no problem when I enter the lords hall or courtyard. Viking Conquest Story: Capturing a Castle

So I recently started the VC Storyline recently. I am surprised at how good it is, but I am kind of stuck. Spoilers ahead so I went to Englaland with Sven, and, well, you know how well that goes. Anyway so I joined the Saxons by giving them the letter (because I like Bodo, and wanted to piss of Egil the traitor). I was made a lord but given no fiefs. And the first mission is to conquer a castle, and hold it for 20 days. So I have very little money, maybe 5k, and pay about 500 something in matinence since I have a brewery cutting some matinence costs, and about 30 soldiers in my army. So I just don't get how they expect you to conquer a whole castle with over 300 defenders without just pure grinding, and grinding until you can get a decent army I got a lord to follow me, but he ran away at the first sight of an enemy army. Any idea how I could get it easier, like maybe tips on building a bigger army, or how to keep enemies away or... something, (preferably with no cheats) so ...

PS4 MB is basically broken and it breaks my heart

So I've been playing M&B for a long time. A few months back when it came to console I was ecstatic since my PC was no longer with me. Everyone in the community knows that Ping is critical. It might not always decide a fight but damn does it mess with you. So of course everyone stuck to there relative servers US and EU etc. But no on console not one person understands how to pop proper servers. Its all EU with US players not playing on they're respective servers. EU servers usually are populated early in the morning. I love this game and its been there for me when I've had nothing else. [NOVAS AETAS] What about the AI, are they really that stupid?

I have been serving as a mercenary in a lord´s army and we went to a big fight but it was terrible: Both sides made the cavalry rush like crazy in the front, they made a shield wall with the infantry in the back e send archers to charge. The problem is: those infantry in shield wall never leave the formation! In the end of the battle there was 2 shield walls, one in each side, doing nothing, while a bunch of novice archers tryed to kill them, it was very frustrating. Is is always like it? With Fire and Sword Cursor Problem

Hi all, so I feel like I've exhausted my options as far as searching on Google. So now I turn to you, good Harvesters and Skull-Drinkers. I recently got a new laptop (Acer Aspire V17 Nitro - Black Edition) with Windows 10, Intel Core i7, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960m. Warband works like a dream, yet when I try With Fire and Sword, my cursor just doesn't appear on screen; it's there in that I can still hover over things and select them, but I can't see the actual cursor. I've done everything Google, Steam forums, and Tale Worlds forums have on the issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, changed the size of icons and apps, made sure all my drivers were updated, made sure cursor trailing was disabled, and still nothing. In windowed mode the cursor appears, but I hate playing in windowed mode and with a computer this expensive and a game I payed for, I refuse to settle and play it in any way less than how I prefer; especially since it worked just fine on my old-...

[ACoK] Elite Vale Longbowmen issues

I've recently been training up some Vale longbowmen , only to find that their power draw is significantly reduced due to the plate armour/mail gauntlets they wear. While I understand that the armour penalties were implemented for balance, it doesn't make sense that a unit heavily focused around the damage provided by the power draw skill should be completely decimated and lose a majority of its potential damage as an elite unit. Currently the veteran unit has a higher damage output than the elite variant, which is stupid. Am I missing something? I have edited the unit so that it wears a different piece of equipment and so it functions like I would expect, but I thought that I would ask to make sure there isn't something I am completely ignoring. I should mention that I am running on the most recent version of the mod. Also, side note- sieges at Rain House result in no siege tower being rendered, just the ramp that you would use to get up to it. Is anybody else getting ...

(Nova Aetas) Colonies doesn't seem worth it.

So I've just gotten my first colony going, reached stage 2 and gotten the trading post. It's an ivory island and when I got the first weeks produce It's value was 465 florins a piece. and that is with 6 plus 2 in trading. I know in higher stages you get prestige for certain buildings but still, considering you have to sell the produce yourself it seems more worth to shoot cathars and buy property than colonizing. Great strategy for floris expanded

Started a new playthrough a few weeks ago. Hired mercenaries mostly cause they look cool and became a merc for swadia. Swadia was at war with Khergits. Khergits when at peace with sarranids trade a lot with them. Between Halmar and Durquba there is a pass near a Sarranid village. Camp there and attack khergit caravans. Sell prisoners and goods at the sarranid towns then invest in property. It's really easy money. All factions use that pass if they trade with the sarranids so use this strategy as much as you like. Hi, noob question here: When is it appropiate to use any of the after battle options? For example: When should I share the loot as it is common, when should I take all the loot for myself, and most importantly: when should I leave the loot for everyone else and when should I leave the loot AND burry the dead ones? New player needs some advice

I've been trying to dive into MB for a while, I keep starting new campaigns only to be distracted by other games. I've decided to become familiar with vanilla before I try any mods. It's some thing I know I'll enjoy, and I'm having a blast so far. Unfortunately, I seem to have hit a wall. Im on day 150 and I've been given a village, obviously a terribly placed one, and I've got an enterprise. I'm just breaking even every week, and that's if my village hasn't been raided for the nth time. I don't really know what to do, my party fluctuates around 30 troops, and I can't get more because of lack of funds and I can't save up money to buy a better enterprise. Mods that make it easy to recognize the enemy leader/s during battles?

So, killing the enemies leader seems to make the entire enemy squad break formation and charge, I'm just wondering if there are any mods that make it easier to see the enemy leader, like a star above their head or something like that. Small tiny noobish question

Ok so, I've been a mercenary for the rhodoks for a while and won countless battles (had to retreat only once) against the weaklings of the Sarranid, we also managed to conquer two castles, Shariz and Durquba. Towards the end of the war I officially joined the rhodoks and got the village of Emer (quite good, built a mill and a messenger post already), also earned a hell lot of money and, even if I'm always on loss I manage to earn gold with cleaning bandits...the problem is, I have a huge army with lots of high tier troops such as 12 Rhodok Sergeants, 1 Swadian Knight, some Rhodok Sharpshooters, a couple of Hired Blades and Mercenary Cavalry and 2 Sarranid Mamalukes as well as many troops ready to upgrade, mostly Swadian Men at Arms, that I can't upgrade because of upkeep cost, so I'm basically a powerful 65 men (including Artimenner and Borcha) army which is very versatile and can beat armies even twice as strong as me without many casualties, too bad it's almost u...

[Floris] My rhodok army dying very easily.

This is my first game in Floris. I'm trying to go with a full Rhodok army (about 40% Infantry/40% crossbow with my companions and I as the cavalry) because I've just basically used Swadian Knight armies before and I want to try something different. So far I'm up to about ~70 army size with a few level 5 troops and mostly level 3s and 4s (and a bunch of recruits I constantly have to gather). My problem is that my guys seem to die extremely easily. Even facing mountain or forest bandits that are like half my size I still end up taking a ton of casualties unless I personally get in their face and basically carry the battle. Is there some magic point at like troop level 6 or 7 when Rhodok suddenly become strong? I've always heard they're awesome. My crosbowmen can't seem to hit the broadside of a barn. I form them up in ranks to wait for the enemy charge and even with like 30 seconds of firing like maybe one or two enemies die and then they typically just do dop...

I am the ruler of my own kingdom. We just finished a war, so I decided to throw a feast while we were in peace to build some relations with my Vassals. All of my Vassals showed up to the feast, and stayed for multiple days, but I never once got a relations boost with any of them. I tried talking to multiple lords at multiple different times. (PoP) Holding locations in your backfield when attacking different factions

So I'm current;y marshal for Sarleon, at war with Ravenstern, Fierdsvain, and Dshar Principalities. I can't beat any of them in open field conflict but when I start taking castles and towns the enemy is recapturing them when I inevitably have to react to an enemy offensive in a different region. Does anyone have a simple solution for holding those areas until they get given to a lord and reinforced that doesn't include leaving a large amount of my own troops in them? Quick noob question, how many to recruit at the start?

So I'm playing Warband single player for the first time, no mods or expansions yet, and I'm not sure if I should be buying all the recruits I see in villages or holding off for fear of running out of money. Hi! I am a fairly new player (~35 hours). I like to play the role of a small riding party: killing carovans, capturing farmers, raiding villages and tipping the balance of figths. Legit money making strategy: Slave trader army

I'm sure this is really obvious for some but I only just realised this after all my hours playing that you can create an army of slave traders and use that as your money making method. I just took on an army of about 100 with my army of 80 (45 of which are slave traders) and I literally got about 5000 denars at the slave broker. Why is Taleworlds so stingy with the Bannerlord updates?

I think we've all gotten to the point of absolute disgust with the way TW is handling their PR for this game, whether we want to admit it or not. I get it that they want to make the best game possible and it takes time, but it's not an excuse to keep your fanbase in the dark for months without any update, when we all know there's always something they could show us, no matter how small. I mean, just look at what it's doing to the community. There's so little media to go around that we're forced to desperately over-analyze and speculate about ever single pixel of every screenshot, because there's nothing else to talk about for months. Where would this franchise be if the fans wouldn't keep the fire going? I just think it's a little bit insulting towards us how they just refuse to keep us in the loop. We don't ask for much. Anyone else bothered by Bannerlord's setting?

One thing I like a lot about the original Mount and Blade is its syncretic setting which kind of mixes a lot of different medieval cultures and times, but mostly seems to stick to a vaguely High Medieval time period. But it sounds like Bannerlord is going to be in a more specifically Dark Age time period. Now this is probably going to be cool, but I'm personally going to miss the knights, factions, and items from the original. The new factions, "Vlandia" for instance, just don't sound as interesting as "Swadia". I hope I'm wrong and Bannerlord is more expansive than I thought. A grave warning to anyone who likes to circle archers til they run out of arrows...

I have been circling this band of enemies (about 80) for around 15 minutes now, they don't have many archers, but somehow they've managed to keep up their firepower for the entire 15 minutes. [POP] A CKO to blot out the sun?

I wish to make a CKO that is entirely infantry based, with enough fire power to take on anything. My initial idea was to have the knights acting as the archers, making up about 75% of my force, and the sergeants being the other 25%. Knights would probably have a 2H, bow, and 2 arrows, and the sergeants would have halberds. The sergeants would hold off their cav, while the archers shoot them to hell. How viable is this? Will running out of ammo be an issue? Would it be better to use crossbows? Is this idea completely unfeasible? New player, looking for a mod to improve my experience.

Bought the game on sale a few days ago and I've put 12 hours into it so far. Most of this had been running around killing bandits and doing quests. I finally succeeded in becoming a vassal but I don't really know what else to do. I'm too bad to help attack armies/ castles but I wipe the floor with any bandits I see, even sea raiders. And I'm tired of doing quests because 90% of the time spent is trying to find where the hell the guy who gave you the quest is. I'm just slightly underwhelmed by the game I guess. WF&S Why does everyone betray me?

I did Moscovite main quest and became a king. I had positive relations with all 20 lords and they all voted for me in the Tsar election. 4 days later Razin who got no vote rebels against me and 16 of the lords so far joined the rebellion. This is absolutely ridiculous. Some lords whom I had over 40 relationship joined the rebel as well. What the hell is going on here? Why is this happening? Doesn't make any freaking sense. Are all DLC's necessary? Maybe there are some that are completely redundant and a waste of time? I am particularly interested in the Viking DLC. Is it any good?
