Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. I need help with the main quest!

I recently assembled the banner, and I want to start the non-imperial kingdom quest. However I have built my own kingdom before receiving the quest. So I can't seem to make my clan "Independent" Even though I have my own kingdom, which seems as independent as it can get. What now?
